GWR 0-6-0PT No.9466Friends of the Big Green PannierDuring the preservation career of the locomotive 9466 and the Group have come into contact, and made friends, with many organisations and individuals. Below are some web links that we feel may be of interest to visitors to our website:- The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is the home of 9466. In October 2007 9466 was based at the Tyseley Locomotive Works to operate main line specials. Visit the Vintage Trains website for details of their special trains, ticket purchases and information about Tyseley Loco Works. In 2008 9466 is making its third visit to The Mid Norfolk Railway. The locomotive will be operating every weekend in July and August. Please visit their site for timetable and ticket information along with details of a number of special events. 9466 has ventured into Kent on three occasions in the last few years to visit The Spa Valley Railway. The Battlefield Line is a great and under-rated railway. 9466 has visited the line many times and returned in May 2008. Some 9466 supporters are also involved in the restoration of 6023 King Edward II at Didcot. After many years of hard graft it should not be too long before a single chimney King is seen running again. Mr Phil Neale, one of the 6023 restoration team, has a splendid photographic site which includes many pictures of the ongoing resoration of 6023. Some 9466 supporters are also involved with the project to rebuild a GWR Railmotor at Didcot. Click the link to see how the project is progressing! 9466 has visited the Nene Valley Railway on a number of occassions. 9466 has also made a number of visits to the West Somerset Railway. Visit the The West Somerset Railway Official Website for information about the railway. The West Somerset Railway on the Web is the unofficial site for the WSR and contains huge amounts of information for the enthusiast. The Severn Valley Railway Official Website - 9466 has made a number of visits to Bridgnorth. The 9466 Group is glad that the railway is now up and running again after the disasters of 2007. The Great Western Society Official Website - 9466 has been to Didcot on a number of occasions, but on her latest visit in May 2000 got outshone by 6412! Please visit STEAM at Swindon. This is a museum dedicated to the GWR and its role in the development of the town. Steam is also the home of the only other preserved 94XX class locomotive, 9400, which can be seen on static display. 9466 visited in 2005 where she gave brakevan rides on a temporary length of railway line. Visit the official site of the UK Heritage Railway Association. Details of all the heritage railways in the UK are listed, plus lots more. A very useful UK locomotive database can be searched to find out information about your favourite steam machine. A news section has also recently been added to allow you to get all the up to date preservation news in one go. To view some seriously good steam railway photography, both main line and preserved, please visit Robert Brittle's UK Railway Photographic Gallery. It is well worth looking at. He's got some pics of 9466 as well! Another interesting railway photography site is hosted and maintained by Paul Sharpe. He has some pics of the 94 as well! The Heavy Freight Mob at Didcot look after 7202 and 3822 and Mark Baldry's site gives all the latest details about both the locos and "The Mob". Mark has also created a splendid page giving details of 7202's cab and controls. The Great Western Archive is, in my humble opinion, the definitive website for all things GWR. All followers of God's Wonderful Railway must visit it! The wealth of information contained within its pages is staggering and is not just limited to the GWR - there is much useful general information as well! This site also has a page of information about 94XX panniers. Visit the website about GWR 0-6-0PT 3650 which is being restored by Mr "T" and his dedicated team at Didcot. Find out how the chaps are getting on - they are now very very close to completing the restoration. Tim Cook of the Quainton Railway Society has produced what is thought to be the first on line stock book of any railway preservation society in Britain. Please visit the Bucks Railway Centre Stockbook.. The UK Steam Info Website provides an incredible amount of mainline steam tour information and web links for UK Railway Preservation. 9466 has been used on a number of Travelling Post Office trains whilst at the Nene Valley and the Friends of M30272M TPO Group has a splendid site. The site also contains some rather fine photos of 9466 along with a small piece of video. Although not a steam site, the team working to restore "paraffin joe" class 40 diesel 40 118 deserve recognition for the painstaking "Way" they are restoring this massive machine. LNER B1 class No.1306 Mayflower is owned by the Mayflower Group and is based at Wansford. Even this hardened "GWR" webmaster has to admit a rather begrudging admiration for Mr Thompson's product that has been so magnificently restored by the Group.
